Authentic Leadership
Day 5

What is your goal?

Remember to consider HOW it can be measured—i.e., if the goal is to become a good leader, how will you MEASURE it? When will you know you have achieved your goal?

What is your starting point?

Do you have the resources to achieve the goal, or do you need help from someone?

What can you do?

Who can you get help from, and how will you ask for it?

What will you do?

Specifically, when will you do what? For example, scheduling a meeting, making a follow-up, having a difficult conversation, etc. What you do should ideally help you achieve your goal.

Get Control of Your Goals with the Help of an Action Plan

PRACTICE - PRACTICE - PRACTICE

Theory and teaching are the building blocks for your future path as a leader. But you won’t get far without practice!

All practice counts! Create a plan for yourself on when and how you will train and maintain your new skills.

Example of daily practice:

  • Ask a colleague to give you feedback on your body language after a meeting.

  • Record yourself conducting a briefing and review your communication afterward.

  • Challenge yourself by having a difficult conversation you’ve been postponing.

  • Create a GROW action plan and ask your manager for feedback on it.

  • Review your notes from this course and find inspiration.
